not able to see tkip or aes on network manager on fedora 13
 

I am running Fedora 13 and using Ndiswrapper with my pci wireless card. my router is a netgear wgr614v9 wireless router with wpa2-psk. When I try to connect to my network the only options I see for security are dynamic WEP (802.1x) and WPA &WPA2 Enterprise and for authentication all I see is TLS LEAP Tunneled TLS and Protected EAP (PEAP). I can connect to my network when I drop security on the network but other wise I am stuck. I have been trying to fix it for about a week now by myself to no avail. Help Please.

Have you tried the wicd package (replacing the NetworkManager)? Alternatively, try setting the WPA connection information in /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf. (See man wpa_supplicant.conf for details.)

I installed wicd and from the problems that I have read about on other forums I went with 1.6.2.1 Now the only problem is that when I try to connect to my network wicd is unable to obtain an IP address. i was able to get around selinux's avc problems also......still somewhat confused but this is a great learing experience.

You did, I hope, set your access parameters in the "Security" part of the wicd-client pop-up.

Make sure that the NetworkManager service is disabled and stopped, and that the wicd service is enabled and running, and you should be "golden."

I'm not too sure what you mean by "problems." I'm using wicd-1.7.0-2 on my Fedora 13 system with no apparent issues.

I did set the access parameters on the wicd frontend....i will have to double check them again when I get home from work in the morning. The 'problems' that I referenced were apparently conflicts with SElinux that I was able to get ironed out. It looks like this might just take some thought and time. I'm still new to linux/Fedora so it's a learning process to say the least.

I'm surprised you need ndiswrapper on F13. A couple of weeks back I had to upgrade a PCI card for WPA2 with my new router. Couldn't get the "latest-and-greatest" to work on Ubuntu Lucid, but went back and bought a slightly cheaper one and it fired straight up (both D-Link).For my laptop I insist on Intel wifi chips these days - easy to check if the kernel has the firmware already. Dell and broadcom only options cause me to shop elsewhere. The laptop with F13 also connected with no issues.

My machine is an 'old' one that I was given and the wireless card is an older pci card that I had installed in an old windows machine that I had. I was not able to see the adapter after my fresh install starting at Fedora 10 and while upgrading to 13.
