Not able to mount XP share through SMB

I have two machines, one XP and one Fedora. They are on a LAN connected through a hub.

The XP machine shares several directories, which are visible and mountable from other Windows machines on the LAN.

When I try to browse these drives through SMB4K, I can see the share and the computer name, but cannot mount the shares. I get an error "mount error =1 operation not permitted". A check of permissions on the XP box does show that the world has read/write access on those shares, and as I said, other computers can see them.

SMB4K knows to use the workgroup name. I am mounting them as CIFS file systems. I am in general using the default ports and what not. I did set the username and password in the authentication dialog, but that changes nothing. The firewall on the xp server is not saying it blocked anything.

So what's the problem???
