No Netwrok after Kernel Upgrade

Installed Debian yesterday, Woody.
Changed my apt sources to testing.
Did :
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
apt-get dist-upgrade

all was well.

Did:
apt-get kernel-image-2.4-686

Updated lilo.conf as instructed.

Boot into new kernel, see an error message or 2 referencing eth0 flash by too quickly to read.

No network connection at all.

Can boot into old kernel and it works just fine.

my card is a 3com Etherlink 10/100 PCI NIC (3c905-TX)

Any thoughts?

never used Debian before. So I cannot tell anything about you kernel upgrade process.
But I would first do lsmod to see whether the driver for the 3 com card is installed (my I guess is that it hasn't)
do dmesg to see the error that flash by too quickly, or see other log files on the /var/log. Do ls -lt to see the most recent ones. The error shown there should help you in trouble shooting further.

Thanks.
lsmod seems to indicate the driver is there.

I'm still sorting through the logs.
