I just did a fresh install of Fedora Core 6 on an Intel Core 2 Duo, and I have no network access what so ever. The machine dual boots to Windows which works fine, so I know the system should be able to access my network.

What can be done that will allow this system to access the network under Fedora?

Did you just buy a brand new computer? If so it is possible that the kernel that comes with the FC6 install does not have the correct driver for your network card.

I had that problem at work and the only way to fix it was to install another, older network card and upgrade the kernel. It is not possible to just download the rpm on Windows, copy it to Linux and install it because yum requires a network connection just to run.

You can install it with yum without a network. See man yum. You are looking for local install. You could also just use rpm (see man rpm).

When you ask for help please provide some information. 32bit/64bit(you can run either), motherboard, chipset of ethernet card, etc.

This is a brand new system, so it is very likely the network card is not supported. I was kind of hoping it would be anyway/

I fully expected I wasn't providing enough information, however I was uncertain what people would want to know so I just kept things vague until someone could ask for more specific information.

I am using the 32-bit version of Fedora.
The network card is integrated onto the mother board which is an ASUS P5B.

How do I determine what I need to find and download the files I need to update my system to support my network configuration?

Like the other thread on fedora forums said. Try the FC6 respins. They seem (from other threads) to be updated enough to support the motherboard.

I have not had much luck trying to download the respin.

I tried for twice to download the files using jigdo-lite on one of my system and each time it said it wasn't able to download all the files.

I tried jigdo-lite on another system, and it couldn't even access the URL.

What do people know about what is happening with the respin web site, and I might be able to download the files I need to make the proper installation disk?

To offer a better description of the problems I'm having here is what is going on.
I downloaded jigdo-lite which is supposed to be used for downloading the respins.

What can I do so that I'm able to download the respin?

It MAY have been that the servers were just swamped at that time. The best I can tell you is to try again.

I have a P5B, have been using it since last Summer so I know what you're talking about, trust me.

How do we solve it?

By installing the Realtek driver. Just go their site and look for the 8111/8168 driver (it may actually be listed as just 8111 or 8168 but it's the same thing).
That will be a lot faster than downloading Fedora all over again. And as soon as you do an update, you'll find that the NIC is now included with the kernel (it wasn't before - whenever I upgraded my kernel, I had to reinstall the driver - yuk!).

Well, I'm still not having any luck getting the Fedora respin. If there is a problem with the server I don't know how long it is going to last. I've been trying since about Thurdsday to download, and haven't been able.

I will look into installing the Realtek driver.

I finally got around to downloading the RealTek drivers.

Following README file I did:

make clean modules
make install
depmod -a
insmod ./src/r100.ko speed=100 duplex=0 autoneg=0

When I run the Network Configuration utility, the device shows up in the Hardware tab.
However, my network still doesn't work. I cannot ping anything. What else is needed to get the network operational?

After a lot of difficulty, I was finally able to get a copy of the Fedora respin for the 2.6.20-1.2933 kernel.

However, even after updating to this version of Fedora, I am still having the same problems as before.

The network doesn't work at all.

What else might be causing this problem?

Okay, I did another installation of the respin and this time I did a clean installation instead of an upgrade. The network is working now.
