no net connection..mdk 10.1..3com 3c905c-tx

I've installed mandrake 10.1 initially i couldn't get it to boot as it hung on bringing up eth0 after i removed the ethernet card(3com 3c905c-tx) it boots ok, i've stopped the card starting at boot up and reinstalled the card and tried to get it to start and it still will not bring the connection up , i belive the ip details are set correctly and i've tested card and connection on another pc(running xp pro)?

How do you connect? What is the output from the following commands with the card plugged in.

lsmod

ifconfig -a

route -n

Are you using static or dynamic addresses? Can you ping anything?
good luck.

i've tried using both my connections, the cable modem using dhcp and static through my belkin 54g router with an ethernet cable and the other static on my wireless local loop connection with an ethernet cable.
i cant ping anything if i set the card to start on boot up it seems to freeze on bringing up eth0 and if i try to start it after bootup i get the same.

Have you checked the mandrake errata for similar problems? That's
probably where I'd start. A search of the forums for similar problems
may also produce results.
good luck.

Just post whatever you find related to the nic, or eth0.
We might find a clue as to where it is going south on you.
good luck.

These are the only things i can see related to eth0, can't undertand this works fine in slax and worked previously in mandrake 10 in another system(nforce 2 based)?

That's a little odd, do you have more than one nic in the box?
good luck.
