If you don't get the dns servers automagically by DHCP (most common with modem internet connections), try to configure them manually.
Open the /etc/resolv.conf file in your favourite editor and add your ISP' dns servers following the syntax:
nameserver <ip-address>
thanks, ... i did that but still it gives error ... btw, i dunno what the nameserver is ... i just know the ips ... as they get displayed when i connect, primary: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and similarly for secondary ... what else i can try ?
