NIS+NFS or SSH+NFS
 

Does anyone see a problem with using just ssh and NFS for client/server environments ? What would NIS add to this setup.

how about you actaully tell us your situation. it totally depends what you want to acheive as to wether NFS and SSH will do it. NIS would add centralized authentication, not a clue if that's any use to you or not, or if there's a more suitable way for you to do it.
