nis enigma

I am configuring a new nis client and have all the configuration files exactly the same as existing clients (nsswitch.conf, passwd, group, host.conf, hosts, yp.conf)

The new client returns a dump of the passwd file with a “ypcat passwd” command. ypwhich returns the correct domainname. Ypmatch seems to work as well but the client won't authenticate!!!

NFS is mounted and I can see home directories

The server is working fine with existing clients. Does anyone have a suggestion??

on the server run /usr/lib/yp/ypinit -m
then on the check by "ypcat passwd" if you can see the user which you are tryin to authenticate... if it works then the user should be able to login..
