NIS db issue
User NIS experience:
Novice Environment: RH 7.0 Master NIS server RH 6.1 Slave Problem: User/Group account mis-matches When I add a user to the system via Master NIS server it does create entries in the /etc/passwd and /etc/group and a home directory for the user. But it gives incorrect user ownsership to the home directory. Not able to detect a consistent pattern of user account mappings. Appears sporadic. If I give the correct user ownership to the home directory on the Slave server - the Master then incorrectly associates the home directory. Blah - catch 22. Basically no matter what I do the mappings are incorrect. So should I copy the /etc/passwd and the /etc/group files from the Master to the Slave and restart ypserv and ypbind? Any ideas you might have regarding this issue are greatly appreciated! |
