NIS client can't start gnome power manager
I have an FC5 client configured to login via YP/NIS to an "Enterprise Edition" server. That works fine. However, when the client starts Gnome an error message pops up: "Power Manager. This program cannot start until you start the dbus system service."
I am perplexed because the dbus system service is, in fact, started
and can be viewed with: ps x | grep dbus
2722 ? Ss 0:00 /usr/bin/ssh-agent /usr/bin/dbus-launch --exit-with-s
2725 ? S 0:00 /usr/bin/dbus-launch --exit-with-session /etc/X11/xin
2726 ? Ssl 0:00 dbus-daemon --fork --print-pid 8 --print-address 6 --
4285 pts/1 S+ 0:00 grep dbus
Furthermore, if I perform a root login on the client (so that NIS
is not in use) the error message does *not* appear.
There is no information about the failed attempt to start gnome-power-manager in /var/log/messages.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
TS
