Unhappy NIC not working... No module?

Two weeks w/ Red Hat 7.1 and not a single ping. No 'net, no mail, nothing.

Admittedly I am SuperNoob with Linux and somewhat the SuperNoob with NIC config.

What I know:

1) RH 7.1

2) Accton 1211-TX Rev 16 NIC card running in HP Pavillion. ( I found this by running cat /proc/pci)

3) 'ifconfig' and 'ifconfig eth0' both return Command not found.

4) I just tried 'cat hwconf' and got the following

Class:NETWORK
Bus:PCI
Detached:0
Device:Eth
Driver: Disabled
Description:"Accton|SMC2-1211TX"
Vendor ID
.
.
.
.
pciType:1

What I think I know:

1) I'm pretty sure there is no module loaded for this card at boot up.

2) I am pretty sure I need this module here.

What I don't know:

1) How do I tell for sure there is no module?

2) How do I ensure this is the mod I need?

3) How do I install the mod once I find it?

Thanks and I look forward to sleeping in tomorrow!

I guess your NIC can work with the "8138too" module. To try it use
modprobe 8139too
If no error, it fits.
The you can do ifconfig (use /sbin/ifconfig eth0 your_ip)
