NIC Configuration Help

Hi,
I have a Fedora 10 installation with 3 NICs with the configuration as given below:

etho
IP : 192.168.0.160/255.255.255.0
Gateway : 192.168.0.15

eth1 : 10.4.0.100/255.255.0.0

eth2 : 172.6.0.1/255.255.255.0

All these 3 NICs are connected to separate switches. The problem is I cannot ping to 172.6.0.0 devices from the server.

I get reply from both 192.168.0.0 and 10.4.0.0 devices.

Is it not possible to have 3 NICs on the same server ?

eth2 is a newly added NIC, does it require any other configuration to start working ?

Please help !

Do you see eht2 in ifconfig? Is it up and running? Does switch shows that interface is up and running? Any firewall rules forbidding icmp?

Hi,

I think the problem was with the IP 172.6.0.1, because it is a public one. Whenever i try pinging an IP from 172.6.0.0 series it was being routed to the default gateway 192.168.0.15. I changed the IP series to 172.16.0.0 and it started working.

Thanks for the reply.
