NFS with linux/solaris

Hi all (and excuse me for my english!),

I've some a NFS performance problem between linux boxes (RH 7.3) and a solaris server (5.8).

All my NFS mount in fstab are with options:

defaults,tcp,nfsvers=3,rsize=8192,wsize=8192

If I try to cp a 100Mo file over the NFS mount between my linux boxes and my solaris server, it's about 2mn !!!!

With the same file,between 2 linux boxes, about 6s
and 5s between a solaris client and the solaris server.

Somebody encourtered this pb ?
Thanks

Philippe

Hi!

I have the same problem, still unsolved although I' ve tried many different configurations. My next step is to recompile the kernel. I'll enable the option UFS write support on my linux boxes and switch to nfs-kernel-server.

Have you found any solutions to the problem?

NFS server on Linux

Linus NFS server only supports version 2 - try using

mount -o vers=2

Good luck

Hi all!

My problem is SOLVED. It had nothing to do with the configuration files like fstab, auto.master nsswitch.conf etc. It was a kernel problem. To correct it...

# CONFIG_AUTOFS_FS is not set
CONFIG_AUTOFS4_FS=y

or

CONFIG_AUTOFS_FS=y
# CONFIG_AUTOFS4_FS is not set

not both.

Nikos.
