hi out there to all...i am trying to nfs mount a file on my system to another system in the same domain... when i manually mount that file it gives me a line that says:
"NFS Server down"... The system is on and so is the service... i am unable to recognize what is the problem... i am using FC 2...please advise...
How did you set up your NFS server? It looks like it is not running. Is the incoming machine in the hosts.allow file? I do not think that you can share just a file, I think you have to share at least a directory. What commands did you enter to try and mount the NFS?
I set up my NFS server using the system-config-nfs (GUI)... Moreover i mentioned incorrectly about the file... infact it is the directory which i am trying to share... i have two systems with System A having IP 192.168.15.150 and system B having IP 192.168.15.151... both the systems are in the network and working fine otherwise... I can access the nfs-shared directory on the system A by using the system B but vice-versa is not possible... the message displayed is :
[root@kServerDomain root]# mount -t nfs 192.168.15.151:/clientShare /mnt/nfsshare/
mount to NFS server '192.168.15.151' failed: server is down.
You did set up both machines as NFS servers? Double check that you got the correct address in the host.allow(and elsewhere). It is really easy when setting up multiple machines to put in the exact same address as you did for the other machine which will screw up the share(ie enter A's address when trying to share B's).
