NFS-requests fill up memory.

If the NFS-server cannot be reached for some reason or another, the requests fill up the memory, leaving no space for other programs, which are killed. I end up rebooting each time.

How can I prevent this or clear all NFS-stuff from the memory?

I am running the 2.6.9 kernel on FC 1 (mostly FC2 packages on it).
