NFS Permission Trouble

Hi all,

I have exported the share /var/backup on a RedHat 9 box (1), with another RedHat 9 box (2) mapping to it.

/etc/exports on box 1 (ns.lan1.net) looks like:

Code:
/var/backup ns.lan1.net(rw,sync)
/etc/fstab on box 2 (backup.lan1.net) looks like:

Code:
backup.lan1.net:/var/backup /mnt/remote-backup nfs rsize=8192,wsize=8192 0 0
I am logged in as root on the nfs client (box 2), the share maps successfully, but I don't have write permissions on the nfs share. Any ideas why? btw I have an entry in /etc/hosts.allow on the nfs server for the client PC.

I know this must be a simple problem which has been answered a hundred times before... sorry. It's the first time I've tried nfs shares and I couldn't find the answer on google...

Thanks in advance for any help!

David.
