nfs file share on local host

I have set up the following share within the host. It works, but is this proper? Or a better way?

[root@road-runner home]# mount -t nfs road-runner:/mnt/hd1/road-runner /home/backup
[root@road-runner home]#
I'm running Fedora 8.

There is no reason to use NFS to mount a local file system. Just create a symbolic link:

umount /home/backup
rmdir /home/backup
ln -s /mnt/hd1/road-runner /home/backup
