Newbie question: How to change the IP on the fly
Hi people!
Is there any way to change the IP on the fly? I use dynamic IP. Regards. |
Which ip?
The external IP? |
Well, I refer to the external IP.
Thanks. |
Why do you want a new IP, banned somewhere?
Reboot the router/modem? |
Yes, I can reset the router, but I would like to do it command-line. There are sometimes you don't have access to the router or you don't want to reset it by button.
Regards. |
If it is a router you can only reset the router.
If it is a modem you can release the ip lease |

So If I use dynamic IP, there isn't way to change IP on the fly by command-line. Is it so?
Thanks in advance |
If you have a modem, the ip is given to your ethernet card, then you can release the dhcp lease and request a new ip
If you have a router, the ip is given to the wan interface of the router, so you need to reboot the router. |
Yes, I use a router.
Ok, thanks! |
