Unhappy Newbie: Networking Help Pleeaazzeee!

I recently set up a linux box. Pls note this is the FIRST time setting one up EVER. The Linux box cruises the internet just fine and I am able to ping it from my XP box thats on the same network. I can ping the IP but not the name. The program I installed on the Linux box requires me to be able to connect to the Linux box via browser. I cannot connect to it via browser of telnet. I get "Host not found" I am assuming this is a names issue. I am also pretty sure the linux box isnt setup right. Any direction I can be sent would be SO helpful.
