Yes, you have to use Samba

you will have to edit /etc/samba/smb.conf to configure Samba to act as a PDC.

For example

[global]
domain logons = yes
encrypt passwords = yes
netbios name = PDCSVR
os level = 65
preferred master = yes
security = user
wins support = yes
workgroup = DOMAINNAME

How would one configure a Linux client to look on the PDC for username and password resolution, as opposed to the local machine. For example, in Win2K, there is a pulldown menu to select which domain to login to, or an option for login locally (this machine).

Okay its a bad idea in this case to just shoot out a config that 99% of the time will not work for his machine.

Check out these great two sites they go step by step on how to do this. Read them both and if you still have problems come back here. To be on the safe side us the latest 2.2.x version of Samba.
