Newb needs help with Smoothwall

I am using Smoothwall 1.0 with fixes 5.0

my problem is that I cannot see the webserver that I have connected to my ORANGE interface.

If I remove my CROSSOVER cable and plug it into my switch the webserver works fine. The switch is connected to my GREEN interface.

I cannot ping unless I move to the switch.

I think I am missing something obvious, but I don't know enough yet to find it.

I thank you for using the vast knowledge that this community has to assist me.

Do you get link lights when in the DMZ?

What ip address structure are you using?

Yes, I have link lights in the DMZ

my orange interface is setup as 10.199.99.99
my green is setup as 10.199.99.1

and the web server is 10.199.99.50

I cannot ping between them unless I bypass the orange.

thanks for the quick response.

Check your doc for the GPL1 version, but the GPL2 version requires that Orange and Green be on separate subnets. What you have shown would not work on v2.

Try
Orange 10.199.98.99
Green 10.199.99.1

On GPL2-mallard-b4 here. Have set up a web and mail server on orange, can see and access from green or red.

Smoothwall's IPs (basically)
Red: 111.111.111.111
Orange: 192.168.1.111
Green: 192.168.2.111

Web/Mail server in the DMZ, connected via crossover to the orange of the smoothwall box:
Orange: 192.168.1.112

Client on green, hooked to a switch which is hooked to green on smoothwall:
192.168.2.113

Then a rule is set up under networking->portforwarding to redirect ALL:80 to 192.168.1.112:80.

Green should see Orange no problem.

Went through the DOCs but didn't see this. Thanks for pointing it out.

You guys ROCK...

Thanks for all the quick responses. I will try this first thing tomorrow AM. It is now after 19:00 here and I am not at my office now.

I really appreciate ALL the help you guys have given me.

I hope one day I can do the same for others here.

Have a GREAT evening, day or night wherever you are.

Yes - I would generally do this for PCs with multiple interfaces anyway. It makes the routing much easier to handle.

Thanks GUYS,

All your quick answers were very appreciated. The subnet was the issue. Now everything works GREAT.

Just some problems with the web server, but I will try to figure that out on my own. Or post elsewhere on this site for help.

Again, thank you so very much for your assistance.

It is now time for me to so that I can get everything going the way I need to.
