New RH9 can not ping outside world....


But, it can ping inside my network.

I have tried using static and DHCP, and when i use mozilla, it stays on trying to resolve name (www.ibm.com).

I have tried using my inhouse DNS ip address (which all the other Windows boxes use, and its fine), nothing. I have tried using me ISP's DNS addresses...still nothing.

When i ping internal ip addresses (192.168.1.x) it is fine. But wen i try to ping a public ip addres....nothing.

I am about to through this software out the window!!! The installed went through perfect...but it has been a 2 day challenge for me just to get it on the internet!!!!!

Please help.

Did you configure your default gateway? What does the output of 'route' look like, or the contents of /etc/sysconfig/network?

the /etc/sysconfig/network file says:

networking=yes
hostname=linux9
gatway=192.168.1.1
gatewaydev=eth0

Route says:

192.168.1.0 * 255.255.255.0 u 0 0 0 eth0
169.254.0.0 * 255.255.0.0 u 0 0 0 eth0
127.0.0.0 * 255.0.0.0 u 0 0 0 lo
default 192.168.1.1 0.0.0.0 ug 0 0 0 eth0
[root@linux9 root]#

well, I took the new box home and hooked it up on my DSL, using DHCP....BAM...online!!!!

Now i can have some fun!

There is something in my corporate office setup that is not allowing the computer to surf....any suggestion on where to look?
