New Linux installation perfect except no wireless.

Suse 12.3 / i586 32 bit / Dell Vostro 1500 / kernel 3.7.10-1.11 / kde 4.10.2r1

Every other version of Suse had zero problems with the wifi card. The Intel pro wireless 3945ABG is listed in networkmanager, but you cannot turn it on. My wifi light on my laptop needs to come on in order for the wifi to work. I checked all the modules, and they are loaded(ieee80211 / iwl3945). Any ideas?

Thank you!

I have no experience with the card, but I did learn the hard way that my laptop had a hardware function key to turn the wireless on and off.

It's a longshot, but if you have such a key, maybe it's toggled off. The key on mine has an icon that looks kind of like a lighthouse that's supposed to be an antenna broadcasting on it.

Yes

Already checked it. I would like to find out why this card is no longer working under 12.3, when it worked just fine under Suse 11.4. For now I removed the wifi card, and installed a Atheros abg card in place of the intel 3945. As soon as I powered up the laptop, my wifi light was on and the wifi worked perfectly. The new version of Suse has some wifi bugs.

Have you considered filing a bug report?
