Question Networking Problems -Please Help

Hey!

I am planning on setting up an Apache webserver to host some sites of mine, and a few friends. Howver, I want it to go through my existing connection -A Windows network using Internet Connection Sharing.

The ICS Gateway computer is running Windows ME, and the rest of the clients are running mixtures of 98 (second edition) and ME. I know Apache can run on an NT / 2000 machine, and that machine will be able to use my connection setup, but I'd rather run it on a Unix / Linux based machine.

I have the server ready, it's running on Linux Mandrake, i forget which version and Apache is installed. Is there any way I can get it to use my connection, or do I have to use the Windows NT version?

Thanks in advance.

Ry

If your linux server will have it's own valid ip address you can. If not I would not think you could access it from the www unless you forward all port 80 traffic to it.

You would be much better off using the linux box for the connection and the web server and use 2000 for other things.

Linux ip masq is more configurable by far.

you would also be able to do port forwarding with it.
