Networking problem after disabling services
Hi,
I disabled mostly all the services on my laptop, trying to speed up the boot time (which I achieved)
The problem is that now I cannot connect to my university wireless network.
The university wireless network ask for user/password authentication. I can connect to my home wireless network, which has mostly the same configuration, but no name/password (mac authentication). At the university, if you don't put user/password, all sites are redirected to the authentication page.
Here is more info:
- The problem arised when I disabled a lot of services.
- Before I could connect. I double checked, and the problem is in my side.
- The problem is in the name resolution. I can access the internet with the IP address after the authentication.
- I already enabled named.
I know that trial and error should work (I'm not lazy), but I'm using an atheros wireless card. It works smoothly if I enable the network card once when the computer boots up. But it crashes horribly if I disable it and try to enable again (It actually freezes with no log messages). So, to try service by service, I have to restart every time.
It would work for me too if somebody can post the default services running on Fedora Core 4. (anyway, I'd like to know which service I'm missing)
Thank you very much in advance,
Chris.
