I'm trying to network two computers together and have this problem:
The linux computer can see the windows computer and mount the shares. but the windows computer can't see the linux computer.
smb.conf shows that the workgroup on linux is the same workgroup name for windows.

Then, I tried if another linux machine can connect to the first linux machine. It shows in smb4k that the workgroup for the linux computer is a different name than shown in the smb.conf, and the hostname is also different.

where can I go to fix this?

Example:
Linux machine#1
workgroup=home
hostname=smb-1

but when looking at it from another linux machine in smb4k it shows:
Linux machine#1
workgroup=mshome
hostname=homer

If you make sure the samba is configured correctly,Turn off iptables and try again!
