Brand new to Linux and I have installed Ubuntu on my formerly XP'd PC. Actually I just bought a new HD and put Ubuntu on that - I have the old XP HD still. Now I am trying to gain access to an MG-35 media HD through my router which I had done with XP. Basically I had a network with a PC, my iBook and the MG-35. Now that I have installed Ubuntu, the MG-35 doesn't show up and I am reading things about samba, etc. that I know nothing about. If anyone has the patience to walk me thru this it would be greatly appreciated.
With the XP setup, the MG-35 and internet was accessible by both the PC and the Mac. NDAS was installed on the PC to facilitate this. With Ubuntu the internet connection worked right away (which amazed me) but I can't see the MG-35.

Reason: pretty picture
In fact I have abandoned Ubuntu for the time being because I need that functionality. If I can sort this out I will be happy re-install and use it. Everything else worked tickety boo.
