Network Problem with GUI

Hi all......

I am facing a problem in Fedora9.
When I am logging in GUI, there is a problem with the network.
The network icon showing that no network connection (with "x" mark) and I can not access the internet also. I tried to enable networking by right clicking on that icon, but not enabling, showing disconnected. But in the text mode, all are working, means, ifconfig, ping, elinks etc.

Whatz wrong with me and where...?
Waiting for valuable reply...

Thanking you

if you have assigned a static IP address to the Interface, Network manager in the GUI will show that the cable is unplugged and the device is unavailable, though in my experience everything is working when I do this.

Have you manually edited the Interface configuration file ?
