Network Printing with Samba

I'm having a rather strange problem with the network printing. I have a SC420 Dell Server running Suse 9.2. The Dell is acting as the printer server or at least it should be acting as the print server. The network that the server is on is a mix of Macs and PCs which I think is part of the problem. I've tried setting the printer up in Samba as shared but the PC users can see the printer but not print to it. It says access denied. I don't know what that is about. If this is of any use, the printer is a Dell 1600n. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a USB problem on the 400sc

If you are using the USB ports, then only one works. Plug the 1600n into the lower bank of USB ports (in the back of the 400sc) using the port closest to the edge (which is USB003). This is the only USB port which works with the 1600n in the Dell 400sc.

I'd also mention the 1600n has built in networking, and Linux drivers for it are provided at the Samsung website. The 1600n is a rebadged Samsung SCX-4720F, use the Linux drivers for this device and you won't need to hang the 1600n off your USB port of your PC. Note also concurrent ethernet and USB connection is permitted.

The real question, is can we find any linux guru to investigate if Linux is part of the 1600n binary. If so, we may acquire access not only to the 1600n, but to the Samsung line as well. Permitting expanded capability and interoperability (also allowing the toners to become unlocked :-). Wish I were that guru, sadly I'm not.

If you don't mind try trotting over to here ... http://www.samsung.com/download/Mode...e=DR&language=

See if that helps solve your problem.
