(Sorry for double posting, but the Linux Mint Forums don't seem to be moving much).

Hi all. I'm running Linux Mint 9 KDE on a HP 6735s laptop. Wired internet connection worked out of the box; for wireless I had to install some propietary wireless drivers (Broadcom) before I could connect to my home wifi.

Last night the laptop stayed on while running on batteries, and it eventually shut itself down when the batteries ran out. Today I have no connectivity whatsoever; not wired, not wireless. The network tray icon says "not managed".

There are a couple of suggestions in the Forums (one about modyfing /etc/NetworkManager/nm-system-settings.conf and the other about /etc/network/interfaces), but none solved my problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This is just a hunch, from a little bit of knowledge and deduction, but did your laptop *suspend* itself when the batteries ran out? That deactivates the network interfaces, this happened to me JUST NOW on Ubuntu, and it won't reactivate them when you power up again. This is something buggy left over from a looooong time ago (I think a BIOS function has to be called when you do a Suspend), and obviously they haven't fixed it yet.
Try holding down the power switch until it actually goes off, and then power up again and see....

Not sure if it's relevant, but I was running Windows (I dual boot with Linux Mint) when I turned off and then booted Linux. Since the wireless adapter was off in Linux, perhaps it wouldn't have worked if I had turned off while running Linux (wireless never stopped working on Windows).
