Smile network my PC running Puppy with laptop running WinXP

G'day, I have caught the Linux bug and want to do away with windows all-together. Is it possible to share a folder both ways like I can with 2 windows setups? How can I achieve this? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
PS Which is the best version of Linux for a beginner?
Thanks, slowmovingman

sure you can: samba is the magic word (take a google tour, or ask wikipedia for more info on this, tldp.org will help you too)
