network-manager, vpn: no/slow connection, options not saved (debian squeeze)
Hi All,
Using debian squeeze and trying to connect to a VPN. network manager is running and I've installed its pptp extension. nm shows it's connected to the VPN but nothing is loaded. Also, when I untick the authentication options they are not saved, that is: from the VPN connection window->Advanced->Authentication->untick CHAP->OK clicking Advanced->Authentication shows CHAP is TICKED Any ideas? Cheers, Mike. |
Here are some uddates which will hopefully help crack this one:
The VPN connection definitely works: I can ping and ssh after connecting with the VPN and names are resolved: ping linuxquestions.com gives: PING linuxquestions.com (174.137.125.92) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from mdnh-siteboxparking.phl.marchex.com (174.137.125.92): icmp_seq=1 ttl=242 time=230 ms 64 bytes from mdnh-siteboxparking.phl.marchex.com (174.137.125.92): icmp_seq=2 ttl=242 time=223 ms 64 bytes from mdnh-siteboxparking.phl.marchex.com (174.137.125.92): icmp_seq=3 ttl=242 time=223 ms traceroute linuxquestions.com gives traceroute to linuxquestions.com (174.137.125.92), 30 hops max, 60 byte packets 1 * * * 2 * * * 3 * * * 4 * * * 5 * * * However, browsing doesn't work. Neither epiphany nor iceweasel load a page (seem to be running on idle). Any ideas?. Thanks, Mike. |
