Sorry about this stupid question but I'm new to linux. Anyway, I am trying to set up my internet connection (DSL) in Mandrake 10.1 Powerpack. My router (Netlink Firewall and connects through the NIC cars) works fine under Windows, Fedora, SuSE and Mac and is manages through a web interface. When I try and go into my web browser and type a URL/IP I get "------- could not be found." so then when I go into the terminal and type "ping 192.168.0.1" I get "Network is unreachable." I have tried reinstalling several times and each time it fails. I am willing to reinstall if it would help. I'm imagining this is a problem with TCP/IP. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Open Mandrake Control Centre, go to network settings and see if your NIC is up. It looks it's down. Please try to reconfigure it. BTW do you use static or dynamic IPs?

Sorry, it took me a while to reply. Anyway, my interface is up and I've managed to fix the problem by enableing DHCP. Thank you very much for your help though.
