Question Network Hostname setting

I just installed Redhat Linux 9.0 and wanted to try it. I have cable modem connection at home with router conneting to it. All computers I have are behind the router. For those windows machines, I can setup the workgroup and computer name. Those computer names for Windows computer are visible to the router, I can ping them by their name from any computer in my local area netwrok. For my Linux computer, I tried to set up the host name so that other computer in LAN can access it. But failed. Could someone help me out by giving me detail instruction.

Thanks in advance

Andy

hostname <newhostname>
Do that as root and it should work. Also check that the hostname is set in /etc/sysconfig/network file. You can edit that manually. Then restart network like this:
service network restart
