Network connections slow over time

I have an odd problem that I was hoping someone could help me with. Whenever I make a connection with my Fedora 3 AMD64 Linux box, e.g., vnc, xdmcp, etc., and keep it open for a minute or two, it begins to slow. This slowing progresses until finally it is so slow that I can barely control the box, and have to physically go to it to restart it. Once I do that, all is well again.

I find this behaviour quite odd, as it happens from multiple sources, and only on incoming connections.

Does anyone have a clue as to where I would even begin to troubleshoot this?

Thanks in advance,

Brand spaking new member.

It could be a NIC or cable problem. From the command line as root do ifconfig ethX where X=card#. This will give an indication of errors.
