Network connection dropping after idle

Hi All

I apologise if i have listed this in the wrong section.

I have an issue where i have 2 NIC's in a machine running fedora core 6. eth0 connects directly to the internet, eth1 connects to a large corporate network, combination of windows and linux.

When i boot my machine both NIC's connect correctly allowing me access to both networks. I can happily work all day like that.

When i leave the machine for an extended period of time eth1(which is default gateway normally) seems to lose connection as the default gateway, i am assuming that it is going to an idle state or similar and not waking correctly. This results in a quick, but irritating reboot to solve the issue.

I have seen this issue previously when on a Linux administration course, but cannot remember for the life of me how to remedy this issue.

I hope you guys can help

Darren.

Hi,
seems strange. just suggesting you a hit-n-trial, replace the NIC with some other and see if the problem still persists or not.

regards
