Network Card Config.

Hi,

Sorry about this as your prob see similar questions like this a lot but am a linux n00b. Used Sun every so slightly at uni and cannot remember anything about it bar the fact it was nicer to program on and no queues to get onto the machine! hehe

Anyway, I no absolutely nothing about networking, not my forte. So if anyone can help with the following it would be appriciated.

Machine:
Gigabyte GA-K8NS mobo
AMD64 3000+
ATI Radeon 9600SE

I installed Suse last night on my machine but on install it didn't detect my onboard network card.

Also, to connect to the internet currently my machine is hooked up to a router which my flatmate controls from his PC and is always on and I obviously do not have his internet logon details.

Now, once I have the network setup will I beable to just connect to the net or will I have to set up a seperate DSL connection and nick his service provider logon?!

Shame my flatmate away at the sec as he knows linux.

Welcome to LQ.

Can you post the output from:
/sbin/lspci

Thanks for the welcome...

Got it sorted.

Tried reinstalling suse and it still didn't auto detect the network card so manually configured it to the nearest hardware match that was on the list which was the sis900 and then it worked.

Thanks for the response though!
