Network adaptor acting strange at bootup.
I've just gotten myself a new MOBO , the Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe and everything is working fine (at least almost everything).
It has two onboard network adaptors. The first one is a 100Mb NForce2 network adapter The second one is a Marvell 1Gb network adapter I'm using DHCP for my ip and when i use the first one everything works perfectly but when i use the second adapter something strage happens. When booting mandrake 10.0 i get bringing up interface eth0 [failed] (this is normal, it's not connected and has a static IP) bringing up interface eth1 [failed] now the strange thing is that it gives failed on the starting of eth1 but the network connection works fine. Is there a log where i can see what the error is. It's not that important because i got the connection but i was just wondering why i get that failed when booting |
You have to install the nforce drivers.
su root init 3 wget http://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/n...-0283-pkg1.run ./NFORCE-Linux-x86-1.0-0283-pkg1.run --kernel-source-path=/usr/src/linux install it and reboot The nforce audio/network drivers are proprietary and need the drivers. Good luck. |
I've got the NVIDA NFORCE2 drivers installed and i don't have a problem with that Ethernet adapter, it's the other one that acts strange. It 'fails' to start but still it works. For that card i also installed the latest drivers from the marvell website but is doesn't change anything. I'm just trying to figure out what causes the "failed" when the network is started

Your card is broke? An electric fart would kill it. Not hard to do.

It works perfectly, it just gives an error when booting and i was trying to figure out what was the problem.
