Angry Network

I have, after considerable trouble, managed to get my Linux box (RH 6.1) to recognise 2 3Com 3c509 NICs. eth0 is setup to pick up a dynamic IP address from my cable ISP. eth1 is assigned a static internal IP address. When the network comes up, eth0 picks up an IP address in the 24.44.xxx.xxx range, which conforms to what my win2k box picks up. I can ping other machines on internal network, but I am not able to access machines on the internet. I used to be able to connect the linux box as a standalone machine to the cable ISP and surf the net. But when trying to use the box as a gateway, the internet side of the setup seems to fail, inspite of picking up a valid IP address from the ISP.

I do not use dhcpcd that comes with the RH distro, since I ran into trouble with it. Instead I downloaded ISC's dhclient. My /etc/hosts.deny file has the entry ALL: ALL and the /etc/hosts.allow has ALL: 127.0.0.1 and ALL: 192.169.1

ifconfig eth0 and ifconfig eth1 indicate that the cards are all setup properly.

Any help in trying to resolve the issue will be highly appreciated.

Rajan.
