Netgear WG311T, MadWiFi installation woes on OpenSuSE 10.0
 
Hi,

I am trying to install MadWiFi (I have the latest snapshot, Feb. 1) and get wireless networking set up on OpenSuSE 10.0. I removed the older modules, and I performed "make (i386, I believe)" and "make install". So far, so good. I was able to perform "modprobe ath_pci" -- which went without any problems. Unfortunately, I hit a brick wall on the "Creating an Interface" part. I typed in "wlanconfig ath0 create wlandev wifi0 wlanmode sta", and I was given this message

What does this mean, and how can I resolve the issue? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Try 'wlanconfig ath create wlandev wifi0 wlanmode sta'
Leaving out the 0 from ath will make it to choose number it self and might work.
Have you looked at madwifi's docs for suse?
http://madwifi.org/wiki/UserDocs/Distro/SuSE
Search the madwifipage for the error and you will find the answer.

I realized that the step I had problems with wasn't necessary with the version I am using. I now run into trouble right here:

I recall typing 'dhclient', and nothing happened. Then, I tried 'dhcpd' instead, and at the end, it said:

That was right after the error message appeared. So, what's the deal? Do I have to upgrade the dhcpd/dhclient?
