Netbeui to print server in Linux
HI,
I have mandrake 9 installed and need to priint to an older print server. Unfortunately it only responds to NETBEUi - not tcp, etc... Is there any hope to access this server through Linux using an rpm to install netbeui or a substitute. I don't want to have to boot to xp everytime I want to print on the network.. Thanks Frodg |
You can add a different print queue..
It will talk to JetDirect, Windows (smb), Unix & Novell by default. I don't know the Mandy printer config system, but it will be in the options. You will need to have 'smbclient' installed from the samba programmes. |
Well,
I can't find any rererence in Mandrake to set up a diffenet print queue... but thanks anyway. Frodg |
Not too sure what you want to print and from which applications.
Take a look at Samba and see if that will give you what you need. Samba allows Linux to talk to Windows. You can do a search on this forum and see if anything fits. |
It doesn't matter where you print from, the Linux base system must have a print daemon running with a valid printer.
The print queue defines what drivers to use and conversions. Do you have a commandline prog called 'setup' ? |
