Need work around for no access to company network
I have kind of an odd problem
I will be supporting remote users running on RHEL4 maybe RHEL5 the problem is the IT Nazi's at my company will not allow any Linux boxes on the network so I have no way to connect remotely to the end users box
I have a Windows box at my desk and need to find a way to have full remote access to the end user
I know there are programs that will allow me to SSH into these systems but I need to have the ability to have a remote X-Desktop in some cases
if there is anything similar to SMS that I could use that would be perfect this way I can connect to the end users desktop and see any error messages and configurations on there account
does anyone know of opensource solutions for this that will run on a M$ environment
thank you in advance for any help you provide
Take a look at VNC. There are many variants. I hear a lot about tightVNC.
NoMachine's product is great for this.
there is a windows client, and I have found it to be much
faster than vnc over slow connections.
thanks for the quick replies I will look into both of these
I just wanted to say that it's people like you and the others on this site that have made my transition to Linux so easy and it's also the reason why I keep sending people here when they ask me about linux support
thank you again
