Need Help with Netatalk 1.6.0 with Slackware 8.1

Hi,

We are trailing this software on an Apple site trying to get them to see the benefits of a Linux (Unix) system.
We use slackware 8.1 on all sites at present and have downloaded the 1.6.0 version of netatalk. we compiled this with the shadow password support. All works perfectly when set up for guest logins but when the Authentication is setup for uams_clrtxt.so,uams_dhx.so and we create a afppasswd file the clients do not authenticate, we see the login request come in the messages file but the client errors about the password being wrong. It would seem that we have an encryption problem here some where but do not know which way to turn next to fault find this any further.

Thanks for your time
