need help with dial-up connection in SuSE 10
I cannot establish an internet connection. I have a US Robotics external modem. It is fully supported by linux. The model is USR5630B. It's a serial modem. There are two serial numbers written on the modem: UFN73160I3TH, 995630-00.
Also, the modem used to work with SuSE versions prior to 9.3. The kinternet log is the following: SuSE Meta pppd (smpppd-ifcfg), Version 1.59 on linux. Status is: disconnected trying to connect to smpppd connect to smpppd Status is: disconnected Status is: connecting pppd[0]: Plugin passwordfd.so loaded. pppd[0]: --> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.54.0 pppd[0]: --> Initializing modem. pppd[0]: --> Sending: ATZ pppd[0]: ATZ pppd[0]: OK pppd[0]: --> Sending: AT Q0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0 pppd[0]: AT Q0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0 pppd[0]: OK pppd[0]: --> Sending: ATM1 pppd[0]: ATM1 pppd[0]: OK pppd[0]: --> Sending: ATX3 pppd[0]: ATX3 pppd[0]: OK pppd[0]: --> Modem initialized. pppd[0]: --> Sending: ATDT8962500000 pppd[0]: --> Waiting for carrier. pppd[0]: ATDT8962500000 pppd[0]: CONNECT 32000/ARQ pppd[0]: --> Carrier detected. So far i know the thing with login in windows and linux is different. Of cos it is. But i remeber that with AOL as provider you could'nt use it with Linux. So it was (still is ?) in germany. Maybe you provider doesn't support the wvdial in procedure etc.
The message with the login prompt is suspicous for me. Code:
Nov 27 15:17:04 localhost ifup-ppp: pppd gestartet für YYYYYYYYYYYY an /dev/ttyS0 mit 115200 The YYYYYYYYYYYY are of course placeholders not the real entry. |
