need help w/ config file for DHCP on RedHat 7.2

I'm trying to get the dhcp utility in redhat 7.2 to work. I've installed it and created a config file, I've set up my ethernet cards(this machine has two), and everything else seems to be working w/ one exception. When ever I try to start the service, it says something to the effect of:

service dhcpd failed
config error
Line 1: expecting declaration or something else(<not a technical term)

my question is, what is a declaration? Apparently it expects this on the very first line of the config file. I will post the exact error message later today. I would really appreciate any help that anybody can offer.

thanks,

johnny
