need help troubleshooting eth1 problem


the system will not bring up eth1 when i try to activate it, gets the message
"device or resource is busy" - FAILED

What steps do i take in troubleshooting such a problem??
eth0 is configured as 192.168.0.254 and eth1 is configured for DHCP
(running k12ltsp)

What command are you using to try to activate it? Is it already listed in 'ifconfig'?

thank you, it turns out all i needed to do was disable plug and play o/s
how would i have known that without the help of this forum, thank you. Everything seems to be working now.
