Need Help configuring SSH -N -L, trying to configure ubuntu VM to connect to DSL (Damn small linuxVM

Sorry I am such an idiot. I hate to burden you all with my stupid question but:

I am trying to configure a ubuntu VM to connect to a DSL VM (which is acting as a firewall) which is connected to TOR so my ubuntu VM can access tor. I have configured firefox http and ssl proxies as such: 127.0.0.1, port 8118 and my socks proxy as 127.0.0.1 and port 9050. I chose 127.0.0.1 because it is going through this machine.

I am running oracle vm virtual box and have configured my ubuntu vm to go to internal network.

the commands i ran in my dsl (damn small linux) vm were

passwd
i chose a password

ifconfig eth1 10.0.3.1

done, i snapshotted this and run this when connecting second vm
I entered these commands in rootshells-transparent
I also started ssh, so don't worry

Ubuntu:
sudo bash
ifconfig eth0 10.0.3.2
ssh -N -L 9050:10.0.2.2:9050 root@10.0.3.1
it asked yes/no, i said yes then entered password, this connection seemed to work

(in another tab)
sudo bash
ssh -N -L 8118:10.0.2.2:8118 root@10.0.3.1

but I get

Channel 2: open failed: connect failed: connection timed out

this is when I go to check.torproject.org

what I am doing wrong?

cheers

sorry i am a noob

if you need more detail I can give it.

thanks again, totalnoob22

.. I'm not sure this is correctly configured - which machine did you configure firefox on and which machine is "this machine" ?
