Need a less restrictive SMTP account (SBC just became too restrictive)
 

SBC has recently started blocking email that is sent using a custom email address in the FROM field. This is a real problem for me, because I never send email using my SBC-issued email address. This is the error:

The process on that help page for circumventing the block is way too inconvenient for spamgourmet users, who send using one-time-use disposable email addresses. Logging into a web page and adding a temporary address every time I want to use one is unacceptable.

I heard gmail has started creating the same problems for disposable email users, so that's not an option either.

So what SMTP provider does not have this problem? I would prefer a free one, but if folks recommend premium providers I will also consider that.

BTW, I'm also open to sinister ideas.. like perhaps a script that would login to my yahoo account on the web, and automatically add whatever email address I'm sending from. If postfix could be scripted to ensure my disposable email address appears on that list just to send the one message, that would be quite useful.

I use a small firm near me and get excellent service. It costs 29 national units of currency per annum, which really isn't much. I recommend you think local too. Where are you based? Australia?

Thanks for the response. Yeah I agree the smaller ISPs often have the best (least restricted) service. I'm in the US, but hoping I can get a job in Australia.

I've just discovered that my mobile broadband provider has a SMTP server that will work for me. I won't be able to retain that provider if I move to Australia though.. so I might bump this thread if that happens.
