NE2000 installation problem on RH/CentOS

I have a problem installing ISA Ethernet Card (D-Link DE-220, I/O=280 & IRQ=9) on my RH/CentOS,
while booting I found it's fail when trying to initialize and I got an error "ne device does not
seem to be present".
When I did a "modprobe", they say module ne not found.
when I did a "dmesg", there is no eth0
Inside ifcfg-eth0, I got

alias eth0 ne
options ne io=0x280 irq=9

I have read forums and did some test, like
lspci -v, dmesg | less, and lsmmod
doesnot find aany eth0 inside.

The ne2000 ethernet card is one of the most primitive ethernet cards. Usually has no ISA-PnP, so you must get all of the addressing parmeters correctly passed to the kernel. Are you certain the ones you have supplied are correct? lspci won't show anything on the ISA bus, but lsdev might. Whatever you see won't say anything about eth0; that's purely a logical name.

All setting like IO & IRQ are ok, I have check the card setting by small program in its floppy disk.

I'm not sure if this will be of any help as it's been years since I got rid of my ISA computer, but I did have a problem with it detecting a PnP ISA card.

Plug and Play and ISA is a bit of a fudge and doesn't work very well. So try turning off the plug and play capability of the card. This is normally done using a floppy disk [remember those ;-)] which is supplied by the manufacturer.

They normally have a DOS based tool that allows you to disable the PnP capability. Your disto should then be able to detect and configure the card manually rather than relying on PnP.
