Nagios installation issue


hi,
Could someone please let me know how to install NAGIOS in a FC6 machine???
I had downloaded nagios v3 and had unzipped and untarred it..
But when i try to run ./configure comand,i get the below error...
could someone please help me out with the procedure asap as my job is at stake ;( ( well kinda..actually )


[root@nagiostest test]# cd nagios-3.0rc2
[root@nagiostest nagios-3.0rc2]# ./configure
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking build system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking host system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cl... no
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH

[root@nagiostest nagios-3.0rc2]#

i had downloaded gcc compiler because of the nagios issue and after runing ./configure command i get the below error..

[root@nagiostest gcc-4.2.2]# ./configure

checking build system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu

- Please first upgrade your FC6 to F7 and then to F8. FC6 is almost (or already?) outside support scope.
- Unless you specifically need the 3 release, there are Nagios packages for Fedora, latest is 2.9.3.
- I notice you are inside a directory called "gcc-4.2.2". Didn't you install gcc through "yum"?
- Nagios as application may be network related, but your OP is not: it is about installing software and should therefore be in the Linux Software forum.

I came across this site from a friend of mine today morning http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/3_0/quickstart.html ..

I have been able to install it and is almost 98% done.. Now I just gotta install the plug-ins and see how it goes..
